“Between the white lines was the place that I could always tune out everything that I was facing at home and work with my team, who were dealing with some of the same problems” –Jim “The Rookie” Morris
The vision of Jim “The Rookie” Morris Foundation (JTRM Foundation) is to give back to impoverished communities across America through philanthropic efforts.
As part of these efforts, JTRM Foundation introduces Between the White Lines (BTWL).
Between the White Lines Program includes:
In a recent study by The Aspen Institute, benefits of team sports participation for middle school and high school students include:
There are great benefits to team sports participation, but not all kids get the opportunity. According to the same study by The Aspen Institute, “There is a lack of access for minority children and those in low socio-economic schools.”
The JTRM Foundation believes that it is time to make the ground around sports participation even. Every kid should have the opportunity to be a part of a team and to realize his/her potential.
During the summer and fall of 2016, JTRM Foundation will give back to two high school sporting leagues within low-income, impoverished communities. The selected schools are: Ingram Tom Moore High School located in Ingram, TX and O.D. Wyatt High School located in Ft. Worth, TX. JTRM Foundation will rebuild a sports field at each school, assess and distribute sporting equipment to the selected school’s teams and host a ribbon cutting ceremony for each school. During our ribbon cutting ceremony, Jim “The Rookie” Morris and celebrity guests will encourage and motivate coaches, teachers and students to dream big and never give up on your dreams.
