BETWEEN THE WHITE LINES

“Between the white lines was the place that I could always tune out everything that I was facing at home and work with my team, who were dealing with some of the same problems”    –Jim “The Rookie” Morris

BETWEEN THE WHITE LINES – THE VISION

The vision of Jim “The Rookie” Morris Foundation (JTRM Foundation) is to give back to impoverished communities across America through philanthropic efforts.

As part of these efforts, JTRM Foundation introduces Between the White Lines (BTWL).

Between the White Lines Program includes:

  • Rebuilding Sports’ fields for low-income schools and communities
  • Distributing sports equipment to low-income schools and communities
  • Hosting Ground Breaking and/or Ribbon Cutting Events for recipients

In a recent study by The Aspen Institute, benefits of team sports participation for middle school and high school students include:

  • High School athletes are more likely than non-athletes to attend college
  • Increased physical health (88%)
  • Teaching discipline or dedication (81%)
  • Teaching how to get along with others (78%)
  • Mental health (73%)
  • Social (65%)
  • Skills to help in future schooling
  • Female athletes are less likely to be sexually active, to use drugs or suffer from depression.

There are great benefits to team sports participation, but not all kids get the opportunity. According to the same study by The Aspen Institute, “There is a lack of access for minority children and those in low socio-economic schools.”

The JTRM Foundation believes that it is time to make the ground around sports participation even. Every kid should have the opportunity to be a part of a team and to realize his/her potential.

BETWEEN THE WHITE LINES – THE PLAN

bigstock-Teen-Baseball-BatterDuring the summer and fall of 2016, JTRM Foundation will give back to two high school sporting leagues within low-income, impoverished communities. The selected schools are: Ingram Tom Moore High School located in Ingram, TX and O.D. Wyatt High School located in Ft. Worth, TX. JTRM Foundation will rebuild a sports field at each school, assess and distribute sporting equipment to the selected school’s teams and host a ribbon cutting ceremony for each school. During our ribbon cutting ceremony, Jim “The Rookie” Morris and celebrity guests will encourage and motivate coaches, teachers and students to dream big and never give up on your dreams.

HOW CAN I HELP? WE ARE SO GLAD YOU ASKED!
